College Of Architecture, Planning & Design
Boasts Three Top 10 Programs

Application Process

The number of students who can be admitted  the College of Architecture, Planning and Design (APDesign) is limited, and admission is competitive. CAPD admits students for the fall semester only. A complete application must be postmarked by February 1.

Architecture, Interior Architecture and Product Design, Landscape Architecture

To ensure consideration, all application materials must be sent to the Office of Admissions, 119 Anderson Hall, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506 and postmarked before February 1. The College of Architecture, Planning, and Design begins review of complete applications on February 1. Meeting this deadline does not guarantee admission to the college. Students are considered on the basis of academic performance and the availability of space. Students will be notified of the College of Architecture, Planning and Design’s admission decision by mid-March.

All applicants must indicate Architecture, Planning and Design as their intended major on the K-State application. This is an important detail. If this detail is ignored or if another major is indicated, the K-State application will not be reviewed by the College of Architecture, Planning and Design.

If English is not your primary language you must demonstrate English proficiency before you can be considered for admission to APDesign.  All documentation must be received by the Office of Admissions prior to February 1.  Students enrolled in K-State’s English Language Program (ELP)  must have completed ELP requirements before beginning studio in the APDesign.  For more information on English language proficiency, please contact the Office of Admissions.

High school students must submit an official high school transcript and official ACT or SAT scores, along with the K-State application and nonrefundable fee to the K-State Office of Admissions.

Transfer students must submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities they have attended, along with the K-State application and nonrefundable fee to K-State’s Office of Admissions.

Students planning to transfer to the college are urged to contact the associate dean of student services in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design at myapd@k-state.edu for advice about courses that may meet some of the college’s requirements.

Current K-State students interested in applying to the College of Architecture, Planning and Design to study architecture, interior architecture and product design, landscape architecture, or regional and community planning must pick up an application in Seaton Hall Room 212. The completed application must be returned to Seaton 212 before February 1 to ensure review. Informational sessions about the college, the design professions and course selection for the spring semester will be held at the end of the fall semester.

Applicants are urged to have an alternative academic plan in the event they are not admitted to the College of Architecture, Planning and Design.
