K-State APDesign Students to host Second Annual Pumpkin Carving Fest in support of Sunset Zoo
Manhattan, KS, October 24, 2011 - The artistic talent of twenty five K-State APDesign students will be on display at Sunset Zoo’s annual trick or treat event, SPOOKtacular, on Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October, 30 from noon to 5:00pm.
The students will be carving their jack-o-lantern
art on Thursday, October 27 from 7-9pm in Seaton Court 111. Members of
the media are invited to attend. This second annual carving fest is
part of second-year Interior Architecture and
Product Design course taught by Assistant Professor Katrina Lewis and
Visiting Professor Will Yankey.
“Partnering with Sunset Zoo is an excellent opportunity to reinforce the design principles our students learn each day in our studios - plus its fun!” said Lewis.
Students are encouraged to design a pumpkin
featuring this year’s SPOOKtacular theme: “Villains & Heroes.”
Members of the community are encouraged to visit the Zoo on October 29
& 30 to view the art.
SPOOKtacular 2011 features candy trails and a Zoo full of activities, including: Walgreen’s Photo Spots where guests can snap a photo with a famous “Villain or Hero”; Columbian Theatre’s “Heroes of OZ”; Sunset Zoo Animal Ambassadors shows; performances by KSU’s Tap Ensemble; and more!
