Kudos to the Following CAPD Faculty and Students
To Cliff Shin, assistant professor of interior architecture and product
design, who presented a paper at the Industrial Design Society of
America International Conference in September in
Miami. “Marrying Off Industrial Design” focused on how industries have
been looking for a way to add more value and distinctive design to
their products through collaboration.
To Miriam Neet, assistant professor of architecture, for being selected as one of 15 other KSU faculty to travel to India in January 2010 to help develop a secondary major in South Asian Studies for undergraduate students.
To
Larry Bowne, associate professor of architecture, who was recently
honored by Mortar Board senior academic honor society as CAPD’s
outstanding faculty for 2009. The award goes to someone who Mortar
Board believes exemplifies scholarship, leadership and service.
To
Todd Gabbard, assistant professor of architecture; Jessica Canfield,
assistant professor of landscape architecture/regional and community
planning; Blake Belanger, assistant professor of landscape
architecture/regional and community planning; Katie Kingery-Page,
assistant professor of landscape architecture/regional and community
planning; and Melanie Klein, assistant professor of landscape architecture/regional and community planning. Their applications were recently selected to receive USRG or
FDA grants from KSU.
To the following students who placed in the
recently concluded 35th Annual Student Photography Competition
sponsored by the Union Program Council: Ashley Johnson, landscape
architecture, first place for “Venice, California;” Nicholas Whitney,
architecture, honorable mention for “Tears of Joy;” Harrison Staab,
architecture, honorable mention for “Friendship’s Touch;” and John
Vesel, architecture, honorable mentions for “Flag of Greece” and “The
Spire of Dublin.” CAPD students took five of the 13 awards; there were
127 entries by 51 artists.
