Dan Donelin Retires
Dan Donelin, FASLA, AICP, FCELA, is recognized for 14 years of dedicated service to Kansas State University and the College of Architecture, Planning and Design. Dan is retiring at the end of the 2008-2009 year as professor and head of the Department of Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning.
Dan came to K-State from the University of Florida
in 1995. He received his undergraduate degree from the University
of Georgia and his master’s degree
from Michigan State University.
A capable administrator and educator, Donelin has had a distinguished career in
support of the professional organizations of landscape architecture, including
the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA), the American Society
of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and the Landscape Architectural Accreditation
Board (LAAB). He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified
Planners.
His numerous service and academic awards include the CELA President’s Award in
2001 for foresight and leadership skills in the advancement of CELA, an ASLA
Merit Award for his work with Schoolyard Ecosystems and the Florida Wildlife
Federation’s Special Conservation Educator of the Year Award. Dan has also
achieved fellowship in both CELA and ASLA.
According to Dennis Law, dean, K-State College of Architecture, Planning and
Design, Donelin possesses a global vision of design education. “He brought a
national reputation, highly developed leadership skills and a proven record of
research and scholarship to our college. During his tenure, Dan has further
strengthened our planning and landscape architecture programs, resulting in one
of the highest national rankings,” Law said.
We express our sincere appreciation to Dan for his leadership and wish him well in retirement.
