McNamara Retires

Monday, May 14th, 2007

After many years of architectural practice, Michael McNamara joined the faculty as an associate professor in the K-State Department of Architecture in the fall of 1988. He received tenure in 1993 and was promoted to professor in 2002.

Emphasizing rigorous thinking and meticulous craft, Professor McNamara taught architectural design at all year levels. He taught courses in development analysis and architectural programming, as well as seminars in drawing and modern Italian architectural history. His patient but persistent tutelage touched many students.

Professor McNamara explored a wide range of scholarly interests, including the work of an early Twentieth century Italian architect, Angiolo Mazzoni.

Professor McNamara retired at the end of the 2006-2007 academic year and has relocated to California with his family.
