Rex Slack taught 23 years in the Department of Architecture at Kansas State University.  He retired in 1988.

During his many years of service, Professor Slack provided a gentle softspoken presence which has been a source of support to many students. His interest and expertise in the “transcendental” architects has helped students translate their natural attachment to the Midwestern landscape into a productive understanding of a significant portion of American architecture. His concern for detail and materials has been communicated most strongly through courses in architectural ornament which have offered students the opportunity to realize their ideas through production of tangible objects.
