Sid Stotesbury Retires
The Department of Architecture takes special pleasure in recognizing 27 years of dedicated service by Sidney D. Stotesbury, Ph.D. Sid retired in May of 1999.
After receiving his Master of Architecture and Doctorate at the University of California at Berkeley, where he also taught, Sid went on to teach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte before joining the faculty at Kansas State University.
During his tenure at Kansas State University, Sid was involved in the teaching of design and structures to more than a generation of students. His expertise and love of structures is seen in his book, co-authored with T. Y. Lin, Structural Concepts and Systems for Architects and Engineers. The book has enjoyed several editions and has been published in Chinese and Spanish. Sid’s contribution to the field has been recognized in citations Who’s Who … In The World, In America, In The Midwest, In American Education, and In Science and Engineering.
Sid’s dedication and rigor in teaching has been a significant element in the evolution of the excellent reputation enjoyed by the Department of Architecture and the College of Architecture, Planning, and Design at Kansas State University.
Sidney D. Stotesbury exemplifies the excellence that makes this a great institution. His colleagues and friends extend our appreciation to him for his dedicated service and accomplishments.
