Watts Named Acting Associate Head of Architecture

Carol Martin Watts has accepted the position of acting associate head of the K-State Department of Architecture. The 18-month term begins in January of 2007.

According to David Sachs, professor and head of the department, Watts’ major responsibility will be directing the department’s graduate programs as they transition to new degrees. She will also coordinate various publications and assist the department head. Watts will continue to teach one course each semester.

Watts holds a BA from Mount Holyoke, a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and a PhD from the University of Texas-Austin. She has taught at K-State since 1983 and was promoted to professor in 2001. She previously served as director of graduate studies in the Department of Architecture (1992-1997) and as acting head of the Department of Environmental Design (1989-1990).
