Brittany Williams,
architecture, received a multicultural leadership award from the K-State Alumni
Association.
Each year, the Alumni Association presents the award to four
outstanding multicultural seniors for their achievements during their college
careers at K-State. The 2006 recipients
were recognized at a reception in May.
Williams, St.
Peters, MO, received
the Bachelor of Architecture last month.
She was nominated for the award by Professor Lynn Ewanow, Associate
Dean, K-State College of Architecture Planning and Design (CAPD).
During her matriculation at K-State, Williams served as both
president and vice president of NOMAS (the National Organization of Minority
Architecture Students), playing an important leadership role in the growth of
that organization and helping it to establish a stronger presence within
CAPD. Under her guidance, the K-State chapter
received the 2004 NOMAS Student Chapter of the Year Award. Williams served as a student
ambassador/mentor for younger and prospective students, as well as a planning
committee member for the CAPD mock interview and DesignExpo events. She was also a member of the K-State
Multicultural Leadership Council.
“We are proud to honor these students for their years of
service and leadership through multicultural organizations and activities,”
said Alumni Association president Amy Button Renz. “The results of their efforts in encouraging
diversity will leave lasting marks on the university.”
