An ever increasing amount of work in the Department of Interior Architecture and Product Design is being realized with the integration of computer technology in the design process. The application of computerization in the design process improves the efficiency and the overall quality of end products by allowing for quick visualization of ideas in two and three dimensions.
The department provides supportive and integrated studios where students furnish their own computers and utilize the latest in software and hardware technology. All studios are connected via a high speed, local network allowing for Internet access, e-mail, and data transfer between the students and the instructors. The College of Architecture, Planning and Design also has a dedicated 30-seat computer lab loaded with current Industry-standard software titles and utilities.
Additionally, the department maintains its own plotting/printing technologies, allowing students to print full-color boards and presentation layouts at a fraction of the cost of commercial send-off services.
Current design software titles utilized by students include:
Autodesk (3D Studio Max, AutoCad 2007, Architectural Desktop, RevIT)
Adobe (Acrobat Pro 8, Illustrator CS2, Photoshop CS2, InDesign, Flash)
McNeel and Associates (Rhino 3D 4.0, Flamingo).
