A top official of the American Institute of Architects will
present the next lecture sponsored by the K-State College of Architecture,
Planning and Design.
Gregory Hancks, AIA, associate general counsel of the
American Institute of Architects in Washington, D.C., will speak on
Ethics in the Design Professions
at 8:05a Thursday,
January 28, 2010, in Foerster Auditorium (Room 63, Seaton Hall). The event is
open to the public without charge.
As part of his duties, Hancks works with the Institute’s
National Ethics Council to fulfill its responsibilities to consider charges of
violation of the AIA’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, which include
conducting hearings and publishing decisions. He is a licensed architect in
Washington State and a member of the Missouri bar. He is the author of the
series “Copyright or Copy Wrong” in the Institute’s online newsletter, AIArchitect, and the article on
“Construction Contracts” in the 14th edition of The Architect’s Handbook of Professional Practice. He has presented
continuing education programs on architectural ethics to numerous AIA state and
local components.
