The Kansas State University College of Architecture, Planning and Design is pleased to announce a lecture by a partner and management principal of Lehman Smith McLeish, an award-winning, industry leading design firm located in Washington, DC. Rick Bilski will present Integration and Innovation at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, in the Little Theatre of the K-State Student Union. The presentation is open to the public without charge. The work of Lehman Smith McLeish owes its character to a continual integration of all parts of the design experience. A translation from vision to concept to form, LSM’s collaborative process engages all disciplines, resulting in innovative and unique architectural solutions. His technical expertise and 22 distinguished years of project management experience have earned Rick Bilski the trust of LSM’s legal and corporate clients. On a day-to-day basis, Bilski oversees project management and technical direction for all studio work, ensuring that design concepts are seamlessly integrated across disciplines into a highly efficient project delivery system. Bilski directs firm-wide project documentation and construction administration, and oversees all consultants and contractors. He manages complex budgets and schedules to support real estate transactions, building modifications, construction phasing strategies, and coordinates between technical consultants to ensure a fully-integrated product. A recognized expert, Bilski has shared his insights on topics such as technology integration and sustainability through speaking engagements at a range of industry events for professional organizations including the DC Building Industry Association, the American Institute of Architects and CoreNet Global. Devoted to design excellence in all firms, LSM’s hallmark is a dedication to their client’s vision, united with a clean-lined, forward-thinking design aesthetic. LSM’s collaborative, multi-disciplined work blurs the archetypal boundaries between inside and out, art and architecture, function and expression-pushing the traditional consideration of interior design to its most expansive limits. Firmly committed to raising the standards of contemporary design, architects and designers at LSM constantly challenge conventional methods to achieve innovative technological solutions, challenging clients to expand their creative vision, and creating design concepts and aesthetics unique to each project. With a diverse client base in London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Doha, Mumbai and Seoul as well as the USA and Canada, the firm’s global practice has projects under construction worldwide. Attendance at the lecture can be submitted as continuing education credit by design professionals by contacting Diane Potts. This event is funded by the K-State Student Fine Arts Fee.
