Volunteers

It takes many willing hands to make DesignExpo successful each year, and we rely heavily on student volunteers for assistance.

The various student volunteer tasks are described below. Please sign up using the form below. Your exact assignment task and time will be confirmed via email and in your Seaton Street mailbox just prior to the event dates. If you cannot work during your scheduled time, please contact Diane Potts as soon as possible, indicating an alternate day/time that you could work. Given our needs, your schedule, and your preference, we will accommodate everyone as best we can.

  1. Traffic director - supervise and instruct student volunteers at building entrance where visiting professionals will temporarily park their cars to load and unload their exhibit materials. Hand out courtesy parking permits and give directions to visiting professionals about where to park and information about shuttle van transportation.

  2. Freight - deliver employer exhibits that have been sent ahead to the appropriate exhibit table in the Ballroom. Meet visiting professionals at building entrance, take their materials, and carry or cart them to the appropriate exhibit table in the Ballroom. Help visiting professionals carry or cart their exhibit materials at the end of event from their exhibit table to building entrance and get the materials loaded into their vehicles.

    Number of persons needed - 15+ at busiest times

    Tuesday, October 28, 3:00-7:30p; Wednesday, October 29, 7:30-11:00 am, 2:30-8:00 pm
     
  3. Employer registration - help event committee members at the registration table get employers signed-in and directed toward their exhibit table location, answer questions, etc; get materials from Diane’s office to the main event table and back again after the event.

    Number of persons needed – 3 at any one time

  4. Student registration – help event committee members at the main event table direct student participants toward employers in which they are interested, distribute name tags, answer questions, etc.

    Number of persons needed – 3 at any one time

    Days/times needed -
    Wednesday, October 29, 10:00 am-3:00 pm

Additional information about student volunteer assignments:
  1. Please do not sign up to work less than one full hour at one time. You can sign up for multiple times and tasks.

  2. At the start of your shift, please check in at the employer registration table near the main entrance to the Ballroom and get your name tag.

  3. Some of volunteer assignments are such that you do not want to dress up (dresses, heels, suits/ties, etc.). But please wear clean, neat clothing. Remember, first impressions really count. If you are going to visit the employer tables at times outside of your assigned work shift, you may wish to change clothing.
