There is a good chance you may already have Service Pack 2 installed when your computer was shipped out. At this time, you should find out if Service Pack 2 is installed. If it is installed you can skip this page.
1. Right click My Computer, select Properties, under the General tab, under System —it should read something similar to the below image. Having service pack 2 installed allows you to skip this page and continue. We are only requiring Service Pack 2 this year. If you reformat your system, this CD has the updates your computer will need to be secure again. Please read through everything on this page before beginning. This is important.

2. Make sure you are logged in with your administrator account. You are about to make some major changes to your operating system.
3. Download the following zipped file to your C drive. You can delete this file after patching.
4. Unzip the file to your C drive. (If you are unfamiliar with working with Zip folders and files, open Help and Support from the Start menu and do a search for “Compressed (zipped) Folders overview”.) You should see a folder named “HOTFIXES”. Open the folder HOTFIXES to reveal 4 files ending in “.bat” and a folder named “XP”. The folder named “XP” contains the hotfixes for Windows XP Professional 32 bit edition only. The .bat files contain commands which tells your computer to install the hotfixes in a certain order.
5. You will need to run fixxp0_sp2.bat. Restart your computer after running the batch. It will NOT automatically restart the computer for you.
a. The best way to do this is by clicking start —> run, type “cmd” in the open box and click OK:

b. A command prompt window opens. Drag and drop the first file fixxp0_sp2.bat into the command window and then press enter.
c. The system will prompt you, “Type the drive Letter this file was extracted to and press enter:”. This is referring to the drive letter you extracted your files to. Typically it is going to be “c”. Type that letter and then press enter.
.fixxp0_sp2.bat
This file will initialize the install for Service Pack 2.
If you already have Service Pack 2 installed, you do NOT need to re-install Service Pack 2 again, please skip this page to continue to the next part of setup. This batch requires a restart afterwards
