Architecture 1991 Alumni Honoree [ First | Previous | Next | Last ] |
A native of Columbia, Missouri, ROBERT JUNK's family was living in Topeka when he enrolled in the College of Architecture and Design after transferring from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. Active in the student chapter of the American Institute of Architects, he was twice tapped as a member of Design Weekend teams, spent a semester as a student at the Royal Academy of Architecture in Copenhagen and became a teaching assistant during his fifth year in the College. He, too, served for two years as an OZ staff member before being chosen with Dixie Roberts as co-editor of the College journal. While gaining diversified experience and increasing responsibility on university, office and religious projects with the firm of Edward Larrabee Barnes in New York, Rob was awarded an honorable mention for his entry in the 1983 Steadman Competition and he became a registered architect. By 1987, he was ready to establish Junk Architects where Dixie would later join him in partnership. |
