KIM BROPHY received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1988 from K-State in geography with a concentration in urban planning. This led her to pursue the Master of Regional and Community Planning, which she completed in 1990. From 1991 to 1994, Kim was the Assistant Manager of the Research Data Center for the Mid-America Regional Council, responsible for maintaining, organizing and updating demographic and economic data for the Kansas City metropolitan area. From 1994-1998 as a community planner at Freilich Leitner and Carlisle, Kansas City, Missouri, Kim specialized in analyzing demographic data, constructing environmental inventories and formulating growth policies. In particular, clients benefited from Kim's use of computer- assisted mapping and database analysis for complex land use, environmental and facility planning. Kim also gained experience in growth management and land development regulation working on projects for Pershing County, Nevada; Clinton County, Iowa; and Thornton, Grand Junction, and Durango, Colorado. After many years in urban planning positions, Kim joined Sprint PCS in 1998 and currently holds the position of Program Manager. Sprint PCS is benefiting from the skill sets that Kim honed in the urban planning field: project management, strategic planning and research. At the present time, Kim is working on several international as well as domestic projects for Sprint PCS. Kim has not lost her passion for urban planning. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association, in which she has held various offices includingpresident, vice president, and secretary. She has also been on the Board of Zoning Appeals and presently serves on the Planning Commission for the City of Mission, Kansas. Kim has not forgotten about the community's needs. She is an active member of the Habitat for Humanity and other charities in the Kansas City area. |
