JON SEIER, unlike most of his colleagues, did not discover his passion for land planning and landscape architecture until he came to K-State. While growing up in St. Louis, Jon was sure he wanted to pursue architecture—he loved and appreciated the element of design. However, his studies at K-State introduced Jon to a new aspect of design—landscape architecture. He quickly realized this field could fulfill his passion for design while providing him the constant diversity and challenge he was looking for in a career.

During his fourth year of study, Jon traveled to Italy for study abroad. This trip was one of Jon's most formidable experiences at K-State, and what he learned in that one year has influenced his designs throughout his entire career. Jon graduated Magna Cum Laude with the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture.

Jon went to Denver to take advantage of the growth and building in the area. He immediately joined Norris Design, a leading Denver area landscape architecture and planning firm, where he has been able to take what he learned at K-State and apply it to a broad variety of projects, continually rediscovering the diversity of landscape architecture. He has had the opportunity to work on projects such as parks and recreation, resorts, residential, commercial and mixed use communities. Jon's vision for his projects allows him to always exceed client expectations. In fact, he often serves as coordinator between multiple government agencies, the development team and the public to ensure "buy-in" from all parties and that client satisfaction is a top priority.

Quickly proving himself to be a valuable project leader and innovative designer, Jon was promoted to principal after four short years with Norris Design. As a principal, Jon he has enjoyed the ability to lead design teams and has become involved in the management, growth and direction of the company. Perhaps even more rewarding have been the opportunities to mentor young landscape architects and provide advancement opportunities for others within the firm.

Two of his recent projects of note are Arista and Aurora Centrepoint, both high priority projects for their respective cities to create vibrant mixed-use residential/retail/commercial transit-oriented centers. In addition, Jon has joined with fellow principals at Norris Design to design a new office in the heart of Denver's cultural center. This former industrial building is being transformed into a state of the art, creative workspace environment for employees and clients alike.

Jon is married to Ami, a physical therapist who has successfully started her own business. Stemming from his time in Italy, he loves to travel and tries to take at least one trip each year for inspiration and relaxation. Most recently, he and Ami have visited Patagonia for back country hiking, Ireland, India, Italy and Scotland. Perhaps Jon's most important project is his own house which he is currently designing and building in Denver.
