Robert Burns
1996 Undergraduate Outstanding Teaching Award

Upon recommendation of students and faculty in the College of Architecture, Planning, and Design, Kansas State University is privileged to acknowledge the outstanding record in undergraduate teaching of Assistant Professor Robert E. Burns.

Bob brings to the classroom comprehensive knowledge in planning and its principles which he articulately communicates with honesty, obvious enthusiasm, and a touch of wry humor. He actively engages students with well organized, dynamic, entertaining presentations that make the complex material exciting, intriguing, memorable and fun. Bob's commitment to his profession is appreciated by his students who consistently evaluate his teaching as exceptional. His desire to help students excel extends beyond the classroom; students know he truly cares about them because he is always available and helpful, no matter what the problem. Because Bob encourages students to want to learn more and teaches them to think for themselves, he provides them with an important lesson and a fitting legacy--the tools and the desire to be more informed, responsible citizens and creators of a better world.
